Last weekend we were invited on a fantastic getaway with my brother Christopher and his family to their retreat in Port Ludlow. We had a fantastic time and it was a bunch of firsts for the kids ... Coop's first ferry ride, Sadie and Coop's first time to a beach that wasn't warm (burrrrrrr!!!) and our first time as a family to Lissa's Mom's house (Curtis and I had been there once before A LONG time ago...pre-kids). Despite the cold, rainy weather, we still managed to get out and play at the beach which everyone enjoyed tremendously. Other then that, it was pure relaxation as the kids played and the parents watch football and drank (the Daddy's did a little more drinking then they would have liked :-) We can't wait for our next invite...thanks Christopher, Melissa, Sophia and Will!!

Cousin Sophia's 6th Birthday...at Skate King!
Yesterday was cousin Sophia's 6th birthday party ... at SKATE KING! Sadie and Cooper were so excited to be able to go roller skating for the very first time. And Daddy was excited to bust a move on the skate floor! Cooper made it a full lap around the floor with Mommy basically pushing him the whole way then he was off to play video games. Sadie skated her little heart out with all of her cousins...loving every minute. Fun for the whole family. Thanks Sophia for a fantastic birthday celebration!
Soccer Player Sadie!
Its soccer season and Sadie is old enough now to play in the Mercer Island Youth Soccer Association. Its a step up from Little Kickers but still fun for the kids. Although Sadie isn't the most aggressive of the bunch, she has at least improved from her first day where all she wanted to do was stand in the middle of the field. She is now chasing the ball with the rest of the girls but our next step is to get her to at least touch the ball! Nonetheless, she's out there trying and having fun with all her new friends. Go Sadie!

Kindergarten...here we come!
The first day of Kindergarten has finally arrived and in beautiful Seattle fashion...it was pouring down rain this morning. But spirits were not dampened and we dusted off our umbrellas and headed out the door for the big adventure. Sadie is a "walker" which means we live close enough that we have the privilege of walking...rain or shine...to and from school everyday. Despite the rain Curtis, Sadie and I had a great time and made it too school only a little wet. Once at Mrs. Kerby's classroom there were no tears or clinging to the legs for my big girl which made me very proud. She hung up her jacket and backpack, sat down next to her new little best friend Kate and started her very first Kindergarten project. Curtis and I kissed her goodbye and were off. I am so proud of my little girl...who isn't so little anymore!

SADIE'S 5th BIRTHDAY PARTY!
After last year's Candyland extravaganza, I decided to try and make Sadie's birthday a little less elaborate this year. When I asked her what kind of party she wanted to have she said a pool/pj party...nice combo huh! So, we decided what better place to have her party then Desert Aire over the 4th of July holiday when all of the family would be there. And so today was the big day with a Hula themed pool party was in full swing by mid afternoon. When Sadie saw all the decorations and fun stuff I put out, the first words out of her mouth were "OH MY GOODNESS, OH MY GOODNESS!" That, along with the precious look on her face was as good as gold. Knowing she had an amazing birthday was all I needed to make all the work worth while.
HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY SADIE J!
More Desert Aire fun....
